At Nature’s Access Forest School we work hard to foster meaningful connections with the outdoors for children and youth. All children and youth should have the opportunity to play and learn outside where children can learn to mitigate risks, engage with nature, and build, explore meaningful relationships with friends and the land.  Our educators who share power and learn among our learners share through play-based and inquiry driven teaching and learning methods. 

  Forest School is founded on three pillars: Trust, Reciprocal Relationships, and Freedom.  Educators support learning through a pedagogical framework that is rooted in place and play, directed and inspired by the child and driven by a process of inquiry.  This allows children to learn and explore at their own pace to absorb the skills to learn new developments.  At Nature’s Access we believe that repeated exposure to the same outdoor space allows children to build a strong relationship with the land.  It allows children to enjoy the process of learning and teaching new skills, instead of an expectation of a timeframe or lesson.

  We view our children and youth as competent, curious, and capable learners.  We strive to provide tools and activities to each child to explore and engage with on their own time at the farm.  We instil in each child gratefulness to the land and build a respect to care and cherish our time we share together.  We encourage children to build their own story with daily journalling.  Telling a story does not mean a written novel – but instead a child’s interpretation of “their story” – whether it be through drawing, painting or scribbles.  We support the growth of each child as they discover who they are and their engagement with nature.  Children will be coming together from all different walks of life, and we support and welcome everyone with love and equality.
